Johnny Depp and Amber Heard starred in 2022 in one of the most mediatic trials in history. With nothing to envy to that of OJ Simpson, for six weeks they issued all kinds of evidence against each other that ended with a victory for Depp in which, even so, both were scalded by how their relationship was shown.

Now, and as it could not be otherwise considering Hollywood’s modus operandi, this trial is going to be turned into a documentary series that will summarize the whole process and show a more heterogeneous vision of what happened. The person in charge of the documentary is Emma Cooper, who already became popular thanks to the Netflix documentary The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unedited Tapes, an achievement that made her reach the Emmy Awards.

What will we see in Depp v. Heard?

Netflix, the platform that will broadcast the documentary, has announced that it will be available from next August 16, and has already released a trailer in which we can see the main points of the trial and the importance that will be given to certain aspects.

“There were more than 200 hours of live-streamed coverage during the trial. Millions watched, commented and shared it,” the trailer explains through its text. “By showing both testimonies side-by-side for the first time, this series explores the trial that set Hollywood on fire and the fallout that followed,” adds the official synopsis.

Depp v. Heard will soon reopen a debate that has not been closed at any time and will try to clarify many doubts that are still open. We’ll see if the documentary is up to the task and serves to clean up, or tarnish even more, the image of either of the two involved.
