Last month we reported on the future release of a new version of Microsoft Teams that would be rebuilt from scratch in order to substantially improve its performance on PCs and laptops. Now, Microsoft has released a preview of its collaborative platform that includes a number of new features.

This new version of Teams will be able to install in a third of the time it took the previous version, and opening the application or joining any meeting will be twice as fast. But these are not the only performance improvements; this new version of Microsoft Teams will consume half the memory of the previous version, and will take up 70% less disk space.

The design has also been completely renewed, in order to be in line with Windows 11. This new version of Microsoft Teams uses native materials such as the Mica translucency effect of Windows 11, giving the feeling that it is a native app of the operating system.

In addition, the gray color of its design has been replaced by white, and less use is made of the distinctive purple color of the Teams brand identity. Teams groups will also have their own profile pictures and customizable themes, and the program will automatically switch to dark mode.

The new version of Teams will be released to all users by the end of 2023, although you can test its preview by signing up for its Public Preview program. After activating the preview of this new version, you can easily switch between the previous stable version and the preview.

With the introduction of this preview, Microsoft continues to boost Teams, a program that became very popular in the pandemic times and recently received a number of new features. In addition, a few months ago, the company added the function to report phishing attacks on the platform.
