Endless Summer Vacation: letters and lyrics of the new album by Miley Cyrus against Liam Hemsworth

Flowers was the song with which Miley Cyrus returned after a musical hiatus to revolutionize the industry. Shortly after Shakira took out all her bile against Gerard Piqué in her song with Bizarrap, the Hannah Montana star released her Flowers, in which she turned Bruno Mars’ When I Was Your Man around to make a plea for loneliness and empowerment.

It was no secret that Flowers was dedicated to Liam Hemsworth. The actor who will be the next Geralt of Rivia in Netflix‘s The Witcher was Miley Cyrus’ partner for years, but the relationship ended and the singer had a lot left to say to him. And since When I Was Your Man was a song Hemsworth always dedicated to her, she used it as the basis for her hit.

However, Flowers is just the single from an album that goes much further. Miley Cyrus has just released Endless Summer Vacation, a melancholic album in which, surprise, there are many more messages for Hemsworth and her past. You can already listen to it on Spotify, Apple Music and all other music platforms. But, in case you want to know what each of his songs say, we leave you with a summary of all of them below.

01. Flowers

The first song of the album is the one that has revolutionized everything. The single is accompanied by a dazzling music video in which Miley leaves behind her past with Hemsworth to make it clear that she alone can “give herself flowers and love herself better”. We leave you with the full lyrics:

We were good, we were gold

Kinda dream that can’t be sold

We were right ’til we weren’t

Built a home and watched it burn

Mm, I didn’t wanna leave you

I didn’t wanna lie

Started to cry but then remembered I

I can buy myself flowers

Write my name in the sand

Talk to myself for hours

Say things you don’t understand

I can take myself dancing

And I can hold my own hand

Yeah, I can love me better than you can

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby

Paint my nails, cherry red

Match the roses that you left

No remorse, no regret

I forgive every word you said

Ooh, I didn’t want to leave you, baby

I didn’t wanna fight

Started to cry but then remembered I

I can buy myself flowers

Write my name in the sand

Talk to myself for hours, yeah

Say things you don’t understand

I can take myself dancing, yeah

I can hold my own hand

Yeah, I can love me better than you can

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby

Can love me better

Miley Cyrus transforma el despecho en amor propio en 'Flowers', el primer single de su nuevo disco

Oh, I

I didn’t want to leave you

I didn’t wanna fight

Started to cry but then remembered I

I can buy myself flowers (oh)

Write my name in the sand (mmh)

Talk to myself for hours (yeah)

Say things you don’t understand (never will)

I can take myself dancing, yeah

I can hold my own hand

Yeah, I can love me better than

Yeah, I can love me better than you can

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby (oh)

Can love me better

I can love me better (than you can), baby

Can love me better

I can love me better, baby

Can love me better

02. Jaded

The second song of the album literally means “Jaded” and continues the story of the first song. This time she goes back to make it clear that her breakup was hard, and she takes the opportunity to ask for forgiveness for the bad things she did. However, she makes it clear that the goodbye is final. The complete lyrics are as follows:

I don’t wanna call and talk too long

I know it was wrong, but never said I was sorry

Now I’ve had time to think it over

We’re much older and the bone’s too big to bury

Oh, isn’t it a shame that it ended like that?

Said goodbye forever, but you never unpacked

We went to hell, but we never came back

I’m sorry that you’re jaded

I could’ve taken you places

You’re lonely now and I hate it

I’m sorry that you’re jaded

You’re not even willing to look at your part

You just jump in the car and head down to the bar ’til you blurry

You don’t know when to stop, so you take it too far

And I don’t know where you are and I’m left in the dark ’til I’m worried

Ooh, and it hurts me

And it’s a fucking shame that it ended like that

You broke your own arm, but you’d never say that

We went to hell, but we never came back

I’m sorry that you’re jaded (Jaded)

I could’ve taken you places (Places)

You’re lonely now and I hate it

I’m sorry that you’re jaded

I won’t lie, it won’t be easy

When somebody new is on your body

I’ll change my number, but keep your t-shirt

I don’t mind it’s torn up and faded

I’m sorry that you’re jaded (Jaded)

I could’ve taken you places (Places)

You’re lonely now and I hate it

I’m sorry that you’re jaded

I’m sorry that you’re jaded

03. Rose Colored Lenses

As if it were a movie, this third song continues the story of Miley Cyrus’ album. This time she talks about an impossible, unattainable love that she has always dreamed of and that she doesn’t know if it will ever come true. The full lyrics, below:

Sunrise got us up early

So we put on our shade

Somehow the bed sheets are dirty

Like sticky sweet lemonade

Never wanna leave this room

Daydream, déjà vu

If I had control over you

We could stay like this forever, lost in wonderland

With our head above the clouds, falling stupid like we’re kids

Wearing rose-colored lenses, let’s just play pretend

Wearing rose-colored lenses, pretend we’ll never end

Naked in conversation

Drown me in your daylight

Endless summer vacation

Make it last ’til we die

My baby got looks that kill (Kill)

Make a mess of a nice hotel (Hotel)

If I had control over you

Endless Summer Vacation' canción a canción: Miley Cyrus rebaja la sed de venganza con melancolía

We could stay like this forever, lost in wonderland

With our head above the clouds, falling stupid like we’re kids

Wearing rose-colored lenses, let’s just play pretend

Wearing rose-colored lenses, pretend we’ll never end

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever

We could stay like this forever, lost in wonderland

With our head above the clouds, falling stupid like we’re kids

Wearing rose-colored lenses, let’s just play pretend

Wearing rose-colored lenses, pretend we’ll never end

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s just keep pretending (Stay like this forever)

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s just keep pretending (Stay like this forever)

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever, ah, ah

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever

Let’s stay like this forever

04. Thousand Miles (feat. Brandi Carlile)

In the fourth song on the album, it’s unclear who Miley Cyrus is speaking for, but the reality is that she’s talking about a past love she can’t forget. Certainly, after her empowering message in Flowers, it doesn’t sound like she’s also dedicating it to Hemsworth. Here are the lyrics:

Amazing

I’m driving ’round town in a beat-up old Mercedes

You think I’m crazy

You might be right

But when he smiles, I don’t care about the past

Just like that

I told myself I closed that door

But I’m right back here again

I know half of what I’m saying don’t make no sense

So don’t ask me where I’ve been

I’m not always right, but still, I ain’t got time for what went wrong

Where I end up, I don’t really care

I’m out of my mind, but still, I’m holding on like a rolling stone

A thousand miles from anywhere

I look in the rear-view

I was talking to you ‘fore I realized this madness

Before the sadness

Oh, I pick up the phone and I call back home

But all I get is a dial tone

And instead of hanging up, I hang my head

I told myself I closed that door

But I’m right back here again

I know half of what I’m saying don’t make no sense

So don’t ask me where I’ve been

I’m not always right, but still, I ain’t got time for what went wrong

Where I end up, I don’t really care

I’m out of my mind, but still, I’m holding on like a rolling stone

A thousand miles from anywhere

You might also like

I told myself I closed that door

But I’m right back here again

I know half of what I’m saying don’t make no sense

So don’t ask me where I’ve been

I’m not always right, but still, I ain’t got time for what went wrong

Where I end up, I don’t really care

I’m out of my mind, but still, I’m holding on like a rolling stone

A thousand miles from anywhere

05. You

Once again, the breakup returns to Miley Cyrus in which, tired of heartbreak, the singer gives herself to a new love in which she explains that it does not have to be eternal, but useful and that will mark her life. A message of measured hope after much drama. These are her lyrics:

I wanna set off alarms

Deal out the cards

Smoke Cuban cigars

Get kicked outta bars before two

But only if it’s with you

And I wanna drive down to Texas

Flip off my exes

Get kind of reckless and have wild, wild, wild sex under the Moon

But only if it’s with you

I got some baggage

Let’s do some damage

I am not made for no horsey and carriage

You know I’m savage

You’re looking past it

I want that late night sweet magic, that forever lasting love

But only if it’s with you

Let’s crash a wedding tonight

Get drunk by the lights

Then I’ll pick a fight to make up on the floor of your room

But only if it’s with you

And I wanna cut off my hair

And kick off my boots

And dance in the wind just to do it again, yeah, it’s true

But only if it’s with you

I got some baggage

Let’s do some damage

I am not made for no horsey and carriage

You know I’m savage, but you’re looking past it

I want that late night sweet magic, that forever lasting

I’m kinda crazy ’cause that’s how you make me

I don’t need Jesus ’cause, baby, you saved me, I’m done

But only if it’s with you, oh

You, only with you, yeah, yeah

You, only with you, yeah, yeah, yeah

You, baby, it’s you

You, you, only with you

06. Handstand

Things get fun with this electronic hit by Miley in which she takes Lady Gaga‘s greatest hits as a reference to compose a song about a desire that she is looking for, but that she knows is far from materializing. Love and dream are confused in a purely musical theme. The lyrics are not to be missed:

We met each other on the neon dinghy

Past the manta rays and palm trees

Glowing creatures beamed down from great heights

Electric eels in red venom

In the sky, we could see the riders on the horseback

On comets, coming toward us, kicking up with laughter

My friend Big Twitchy rode the boat to the light

Surfed the north break

We danced until there was nothing left

Just me and Twitchy

‘Cause that’s all we knew

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Ah-ah, ah-ah

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Ah-ah, ah-ah-ah

You’re questioning the science, ’cause you don’t understand

How I’m doing what I’m doing in a fucking handstand

You found it so impressive that I do it again

My other one is busy, so I use my left hand

We took it kinda fast but you’re put it in slow

I see your mother’s calling and you’re hitting ignore

It’s like you saw a unicorn, you don’t understand

How I’m doin’ what I’m doin’ in a fucking handstand

I wish I could crawl inside your heart

Take you captive and then sail away

I wish I could know that it’s forever

Take me captive and then sail away

You’re questioning the science, ’cause you don’t understand

How I’m doing what I’m doing in a fucking handstand

You found it so impressive that I do it again

My other one is busy, so I use my left hand

We took it kinda fast but you’re put it in slow

I see your mother’s calling and you’re hitting ignore

It’s like you saw a unicorn, you don’t understand

How I’m doin’ what I’m doin’ in a fucking handstand

07. River

Miley leaves behind the melancholy in this part of the album to turn it into something much more experimental, electronic and danceable. On this track she once again throws a lot of jabs at Hemsworth and her past with him, making it clear with an eighties rhythm that she is way above what he has ever been. These are her lyrics:

I got a new dress just to meet you downtown

Can you walk me through the park just to show it off?

I can pull my hair back in that tight way that you like

If you wrap me in your arms and never stop

Heart beats so loud that it’s drownin’ me out

Livin’ in an April shower

You’re pourin’ down, baby, drown me out (Ooh, ooh, ooh)

You’re just like a river (Ooh, ooh, ooh)

You’re just like a river (Ooh, ooh, ooh)

You go on forever

You’re just like a river

You’re never runnin’ dry (Oh)

I feel you everywhere

Your face is all in my hair (Hair)

Covered up in your sweat

It turns me on that you care, baby

Your love, it flows just like a river

You’re just like a river (That’s what you are)

You’re just like a river (That’s what you are)

You’re just like a river (That’s what you are)

You’re just like a river

You’re just like a river (Heart beats so loud that it’s drownin’ me out)

You’re just like a river (Livin’ in an April shower)

You go on forever (You’re pourin’ down, baby, drown me out)

You’re just like a river

08. Violet Chemistry

The more electronic Miley Cyrus continues with this track that talks about ending a night out. When the lights come on and you see the one you’ve had by your side all night, everything can change: you can stay there or you can move on. A track full of sex, fun and chemistry that fits more with the Miley of Wrecking Ball. Here are her lyrics:

When the floor is wet

And the lights come on, but you don’t wanna leave

And your phone is lost

But the car’s outside, waitin’ out on the street

Tonight, we’ll just be wrong, ain’t done this in so long

We ain’t gotta talk, baby, we’ll keep the stereo on

When the floor is wet

And the lights come on, but you don’t wanna leave

Stay a while, stay a while with me (Oh, oh)

Stay a while, don’t deny the violet chemistry (Oh, oh)

Stay a while, stay a while with me (Mm, no, oh)

Stay a while, put your arms around me

Put them around me

When thе floor is wet

And the lights come on, but you don’t wanna lеave

Can I bum a cigarette? (Bum a cigarette)

We could paint our names in black on the marquee

Tonight, we’ll just be wrong (Wrong), ain’t done this in so long (Long)

We ain’t gotta talk, baby, we’ll keep the stereo on

When the floor is wet

And the lights come on, but you don’t wanna leave

Stay a while, stay a while with me (Oh, oh)

Stay a while, don’t deny the violet chemistry (Oh, oh)

Stay a while, stay a while with me (Mm, no, oh)

Stay a while, put your arms around me

Put them around me

Fingers start to dance along the figures and the shapes

Mixing all the colors like we’re makin’ a Monet

There’s something between us that’s too major to ignore

May not be eternal but nocturnal, nothin’ more

Fingers start to dance along the figures and the shapes

Mixing all the colors like we’re makin’ a Monet

There’s something between us that’s too major to ignore

May not be eternal but nocturnal, nothin’ more

Tonight, we’ll just be wrong (Wrong), ain’t done this in so long (Long)

We ain’t gotta talk, baby, we’ll keep the stereo on

Stay a while, stay a while with me (Oh, oh)

Stay a while, don’t deny the violet chemistry (Oh, oh)

Stay a while, stay a while with me (Mm, no, oh)

Stay a while, put your arms around me

Put them around me

Stay with me a while, stay with me a while

Stay with me a while, stay with me a while

Stay with me a while, stay with me a while

Stay with me a while, stay with me a while

09. Muddy Feet (feat. Sia)

No more and no less than Sia accompanies Miley Cyrus in the ninth track of Endless Summer Vacation. The singer accompanies her in a song full of insults, in which they insult each other with a beastly bad mouth. She makes it clear that it’s for her ex, talking about an infidelity and something that has hurt her very badly. All the lyrics below:

I don’t know

Who the hell you think you’re messin’ with

Get the fuck out of my house with that shit

Get the fuck out of my life with that shit

And I don’t know

Who the hell you think you’re messin’ with

Get the fuck out of my house with that shit

Get the fuck out of my life with that shit

And you smell like perfume that I didn’t purchase

Now I know why you’ve been closing the curtains (Uh-uh)

Get the fuck out of my house

You’re comin’ ’round

With your muddy feet

I’ma about to do some ’bout it

Yeah, I’ma have to do some ’bout it

You keep comin’ ’round

With your muddy feet

And I’ma have to do some ’bout it

Yeah, I’ma about to do some ’bout it

Back and forth

Always questioning my questioning

Get thе fuck out of my head with that shit

Get the fuck out of my bеd with that shit

You’ve watered the weeds and you killed all the roses

Worthy arrives when the other door closes (Uh-uh)

So get the fuck out of my house with that shit

You’re comin’ ’round (Comin’ ’round, baby)

With your muddy feet

I’ma about to do some ’bout it (What I do)

Yeah, I’ma have to do some ’bout it (What I do)

And I don’t know

Who you’re messin’ with

And I’ma have to do some ’bout it (What I do)

Yeah, I’ma about to do some ’bout it (What I do)

Woah, oh, oh, oh, mm

Woah, oh, oh, oh, mm

Woah, oh, oh, oh, mm (You’re comin’ ’round)

Woah, oh, oh, oh, mm (You’re comin’ ’round, baby)

(What I do, what I do)

Get the fuck out of my house with that shit

10. Wildcard

War drums are beating and Miley Cyrus lets loose on her most rocking song of the album in an empowering track where she puts herself above her supposed love interest. It’s the most warrior-like Miley of the last few we’ve heard, but her voice sounds just as clear. Here are her lyrics:

Do you wanna play house? I could be your wife

Go and meet your mom in a dress too tight

Maybe I could stay and not break your heart

But don’t forget, baby, I’m a wildcard

I love when you hold me

But loving you is never enough

And don’t wait for me

‘Cause forever may never come

I’m a wildcard, oh-ooh

Loving you is never enough

I’m a wildcard, oh-ooh

Forever may never come

I walk in the door, with my lips stained red

Pillows on the floor and the flowers dead

Make the music stop before it starts

‘Cause don’t forget, baby, I’m a wildcard

I love when you hold me

But loving you is never enough

I’m a wildcard, oh-ooh

Loving you is never enough

I’m a wildcard, oh-ooh

Forever may never come

And ooh, bet you’re lovin’

I want all in, I want all or nothing

Ooh, it’ll cost ya

I want all in, I want all or nothing

I love when you hold me

But loving you is never enough

I’m a wildcard, oh-ooh

Loving you is never enough

I’m a wildcard, oh-ooh

Forever may never come

11. Island

After the brutal journey she’s been through throughout the album, Miley arrives on her own “island,” a fortress of solitude from which she sings with all the wisdom her experience has given her. More relaxed and knowing what she wants, she reflects on her life in a track her fans will long remember. Below are the full lyrics to Island:

I’m on an island, dirty dancing in the sun

So close to heaven, but so far from everyone

Yeah, I’ve got treasures buried underneath the sand

But I’m still wishing for the love that I don’t have

Mama told me, “Girl, smoke ’em if you got ’em”

Left my lighter back at home with all my problems

So I’m sittin’ here wondering all day long

Am I stranded (Am I stranded) on an island? (On an island)

Or have I landed (Have I landed) in paradise?

Am I stranded (Am I stranded) on an island? (On an island)

Or have I landed in paradise?

I can paint my toenails whilе I’m soaking up the sea

The only thing that’s missing hеre is you and our TV

And I won’t lie, it sure gets lonely here at night

But no one here needs nothin’ from me and it’s kind of nice

Mama told me, “Girl, smoke ’em if you got ’em”

Left my lighter back at home with all my problems

So I’m sittin’ here wondering all day long

Am I stranded (Am I stranded) on an island? (On an island)

Or have I landed (Have I landed) in paradise?

Am I stranded on an island?

Or have I landed in paradise?

I  hear your voice like a song on the radio

All day along, ’cause, boy, I’ve been missing you

I hear your voice like a song on the radio, ah

I hear your voice like a song on the radio (Hey, ah)

All day along, ’cause, boy, I’ve been missing you (Hey)

I hear your voice like a song on the radio, ah

Am I stranded on an island?

Or have I landed in paradise?

Am I stranded on an island?

Or have I landed in paradise?

Am I stranded (I hear your voice like a song on the radio)

On an island? (All day along, ’cause, boy, I’ve been missing you)

Or have I landed (I hear your voice like a song on the radio, ah)

In paradise?

Am I stranded (I hear your voice like a song on the radio)

On an island? (All day along, ’cause, boy, I’ve been missing you)

Or have I landed (I hear your voice like a song on the radio, ah)

In paradise?

Am I stranded (I hear your voice like a song on the radio)

On an island? (All day along, ’cause, boy, I’ve been missing you)

Or have I landed (I hear your voice like a song on the radio, ah)

In paradise?

Am I stranded on an island?

Or have I landed

12. Wonder Woman

Anyone would think that, from the title (Wonder Woman), Miley Cyrus would end the album with a new empowering and empowering song. However, although it has all these elements, it is a beautiful ballad dedicated to a woman she admires, loves and respects. A hymn to someone we don’t know but with whom we would all want to be with. Her lyrics are admirable:

She’s a wonder woman

She knows what she likes

Never know she’s broken

‘Cause she’s always fine

She’s a million moments

Lived a thousand lives

Never know she’s hopeless

Only when she cries

When her favorite record’s on and she’s dancing in the dark

She can’t stop her eyes from welling up, up

She makes sure that no one’s ’round to see her fall apart

She wants to be thе one that never doеs

She’s a won’t-stop woman

Hours on her hands

All the pain is polished

All the tears are planned

But when her favorite record’s on and she’s dancing in the dark

She can’t stop her eyes from welling up, up

She makes sure that no one’s ’round to see her fall apart

She wants to be the one that never does

She’s a wonder woman

She knows what she likes

Never know she’s broken

Only when she cries (Mm, mm)
