Escape the Backrooms is out today on Nintendo Switch 2. Fancy Games and Blackbird Interactive have brought the co-op horror game over with full cross-platform multiplayer available right away. The matchmaking patch released on May 28, 2026 is included here too, which means Switch 2 players can squad up with friends on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, rather than being limited to a smaller Nintendo-only player base.

You can jump in with up to four players and make your way through maze-like Backrooms environments, solve puzzles, dodge traps, survive hostile entities, and push through more than 30 levels. Fancy Games and Blackbird Interactive first released Escape the Backrooms in Steam Early Access on August 11, 2022. The full Windows version followed on October 23, 2025, and the game later came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 28, 2026.

The game already has a Very Positive rating on Steam, where 89% of 42,609 English-language user reviews are marked positive. It has also reached an estimated 4.4 million Steam sales and about 33.3 million in premium revenue. Over on Xbox, the Game Pass launch gave it another lift, helping it reach No. 21 on the Top 40 Xbox Chart and making it the ninth-largest Game Pass debut of 2026. If you’re after a co-op horror game that works across every current platform, this Nintendo Switch 2 version looks like an easy pick.

You can download Escape the Backrooms now on Nintendo Switch 2.
