Next September, the eyes of the tech world will be on Apple, the Cupertino company that’s gearing up for its annual fall event. While the launch of the iPhone 15 is undoubtedly the main attraction, Apple has more surprises up its sleeve. From new models of the Apple Watch to accessories and software changes, let’s take a look at what’s expected from this highly anticipated event.

The truth is, we don’t have an official confirmation of what we’re going to see, but we do have years of past events to rely on. Apple’s calendar typically includes new iPhones, new Apple Watches, new accessories, and then, with less certainty, we can talk about items like AirPods cases and other small details, as well as services.

Lastly, and this we can affirm, Apple will release the new operating systems for all devices. So, with increasing levels of certainty, the list of products for this upcoming Apple Event is as follows.

Apple Watch Series 9

The first expected update beyond the iPhone 15 is the arrival of the Apple Watch Series 9. This model might not be a major revolution compared to its predecessor, the Series 8, but rather a performance-focused upgrade. The new S9 chip, based on the A15 Bionic used in previous iPhones, is expected to provide a notable boost in the device’s speed and efficiency.

In addition to performance improvements, rumors suggest there will be a new pink color option for this Apple Watch model. While the design would remain largely the same, these small touches are often what attracts consumers year after year.

Apple Watch Ultra 2

If the Series 9 is the standard version, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 would be the more professional edition. Aimed at outdoor enthusiasts, this 49mm watch would be designed to offer durability and a wide range of specialized features. It’s expected that this model will also incorporate the new S9 chip and 3D-printed components, which could make it lighter than its previous version.

Accessories: iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands

As is tradition in Apple’s September events, the launch of new iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands is expected. These accessories will be available in a variety of colors, and for the Apple Watch Series 9, there are rumors that a new woven fabric strap with a magnetic metal buckle might make its debut.

Interestingly, it seems that this year Apple might bid farewell to leather cases for the iPhone 15, opting for eco-friendly materials that mimic the texture of leather.

Software Updates

After months of beta testing, it’s expected that Apple will announce the release dates for iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17. These updates are usually available a few days after the event.

It’s anticipated that these systems will arrive during the week of September 18, getting them ready for the launch of the new devices on Friday, September 22. Meanwhile, following the usual pattern, macOS Sonoma should arrive later, possibly alongside an event for new Macs in October.

USB-C cables, Thunderbolt cables, and a new case for the AirPods Pro

Another expected update is a new charging case with a USB-C connector for the AirPods Pro. This change would align with the transition from Lightning to USB-C that is also anticipated for the iPhone 15 series. It’s currently unknown if the new case will also be available for the AirPods 3.

Speaking of cables, the new iPhone 15 is expected to include a color-matched, braided USB-C to USB-C cable. This cable would be 1.5 meters long and feature a braided design for enhanced durability.

For users seeking faster speeds, Apple might release a USB-C data transfer cable for the iPhone 15 Pro models capable of reaching speeds of up to 40 Gbps, thanks to compatibility with Thunderbolt or USB4.
