Facebook gives you more control over your News Feed

Facebook gives you more control over your News Feed

Facebook has changed how much control users have over the News Feed a lot over the last few years, culminating in the current algorithm-controlled feed that’s designed to give you only the stuff you really want to see. But it’s fair to say it doesn’t completely work, and now Facebook has introduced some new controls.

Tapping the arrow on any post gives you the option to save a post to read later, say ‘I don’t want to see this’, which leads to Facebook asking you why, unfollow that person or page, or get notifications every time that person/page posts on Facebook. There’s also a Manage News Feed tab hidden away in the More tab on the app. This allows you to see who you’ve unfollowed and so on, and lets you undo those decisions if you want.

None of these controls are new, they are just being presented differently. You aren’t getting any controls over how the News Feed algorithm works – you’ll still see older popular posts and so on, and a heavily edited feed of what your friends, pages and groups post on the social network.
