facebook home iconAs Facebook Home nears 1 million downloads, the company took time to show off some new features that will come in a future update. Many of the updates will address user complaints, of which there are many. Up first, Home will be getting a persistent dock on the home screen, similar to what both Android and iOS have. Secondly, Home will be getting a quicker way to start a conversation with Chat Heads. Tapping on a Chat Head will open up a list of recent and frequent contacts instead of requiring users to enter the Messenger app.

One of the biggest issues that Facebook Home faces is scrapping a user’s customized home screen for their own. Facebook will rectify this by updating the app to import their own docked apps. The company didn’t say whether or not folders from an old launcher could be imported.

Facebook remains optimistic about Home, citing a 25% increase in Facebook use after users installed Facebook Home. Messenger also saw an increase in use with a 7% increase in Messenger users as well as a 10% increase in messages sent since the introduction of Home and Chat Heads.

The first update to Home will be released some time today, but will only include bug fixes and performance improvements. There’s no release date for the updates that improve the user experience.
