Microsoft promised to bring Facebook Messenger to Windows Phone during Mobile World Congress last week. Today, the company makes good on its promise by releasing the app in the Windows Store.
The app features the iconic blue and white color scheme of Facebook’s other apps. The app is designed specifically for Windows Phone with a flat interface and contextual buttons at the bottom of the chat window. Users can send a ‘thumbs up’ sticker, take/attach a picture, and access stickers quickly.
Windows Phone is finally catching up with Apple and Google’s app offerings. Popular apps like LINE, Viber, WhatsApp, and even Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are all available on Windows Phone. BBM is coming later this summer.
With Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant right around the corner, Windows Phone is in a good position for third most popular mobile operating system.
