FB messenger iconFacebook Messenger for Android has updated to version 2.3, adding some updates for group conversations but is still lacking the free calling feature that iOS users have been enjoying.

This is very minor update to the Facebook Messenger app for Android but group chat users will be happy to know that conversations can now be renamed. Be aware that everyone in your group chat can see what you’ve renamed the conversation to so try your best not to write anything insulting. Searching for group chats are also improved. You can either search by your custom name or by the people who are in the chat.

It’s a shame that Android users still don’t have the free calling feature that iOS users have. There are plenty of VOIP services that let you call using your phone’s internet connection instead of its minutes but none have the install base of Facebook. Hopefully Facebook can add this feature soon for Android users.
