Bad news for those using Facebook Messenger for Windows. Facebook has started alerting users that the app will no longer be supported after March 3rd. The company offers no explanation about why the messaging app is being discontinued.
This news comes a day after Facebook announced that Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone would be coming soon. The social network has shown its commitment to messaging with its pending purchase of WhatsApp but it seems Windows is not a platform worth investing in.
Facebook Messenger for Windows users will now have to chat on Facebook’s website. Windows 8.1 users can download the Facebook app from the Windows Store to chat with, which can be docked to the side of the screen like a chat app.
