Facebook Messenger for iPad lets you chat and call on your tablet

You can now chat with your friends on your iPad with Facebook Messenger. While the Facebook app for iPad already has Messenger built in, this dedicated app gives a better chat experience.

Your ongoing conversations are located in the left column with your open chat on the right. There’s also a “Groups” tab where you can easily access your group conversations.

You can attach images, share your location, record your voice, and send stickers. There’s even an option to call a friend over the internet if he or she is on Facebook Messenger.

While Facebook Messenger for iPad is a better chat experience, chatting inside the Facebook app allows you to multitask using chat heads. Chat heads are small floating notifications, letting you minimize a chat to browse Facebook. Unfortunately chat heads don’t work outside the Facebook app on iOS.

Facebook Messenger for iPad is also missing a few features of its iPhone version. There’s no tap-and-hold video recording nor is there a split-screen selfie mode.
