It is going to take time to assimilate that every time we talk about FIFA in video games we are no longer referring to the Electronic Arts title –which has changed its name to a new one-, but to the soccer organization as such. As is well known, EA has decided to break up with FIFA, but this does not mean that the organization will not have its own games. The first of them after the breakup? Hold on: a title that has artificial intelligence as its flagship and in the NFT in the future. That’s right there.
To be exact, the official name is AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Edition. Yes, it has the name of the World Cup that ended four months ago, but the striking thing is not that it is outdated, but that it is developed by Altered State Machine, a company whose parent company is Futureverse, which works with Web3 and Metaverse technology.
In this sense, this video game for Android smartphones (later on iOS) allows 4 vs. 4 matches, all controlled by artificial intelligence. The player must make the gameplay and training decisions to empower his players. It is therefore more of a soccer manager than a soccer simulator. But wait, there’s more.
Thanks to Decrypt we know that the title, as much as it will be released for free on digital stores, will have a NFT marketplace in the future. In fact, the development team suggests that each soccer player will have an NFT coined. Needless to say, they will not be familiar faces, but animated characters in the purest animated film style. In addition, the stadiums will not be the official ones either, but recreations of cities known all over the world.
