Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave arrives on September 17, 2026, as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Nintendo says this eighteenth entry in the series begins in the Dagdan Empire during the Heroic Games, then skips ahead five years: four legendary heroes have vanished, the demon god Balor is back, and you play a soul chosen by Sothis to change what’s coming. The new Direct also showed off grid-based battles, dungeon exploration, time travel used to save those missing heroes, and four different story routes.

Nintendo first announced Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave during a Nintendo Direct in September 2025, and the reaction to this deeper showcase has been pretty upbeat. A lot of you are already saying its character-driven tone feels closer to Fire Emblem: Three Houses than Fire Emblem Engage. If you’ve been hoping for a darker Fire Emblem with a little more replay value, this one looks like it could be an easy buy. Nintendo is also releasing a Dagdan Collection that includes a SteelBook, art cards, a map, and an artbook.

You’ll be able to get Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17. Before that, a manga prologue by Kazurou Kyou starts on September 4 in Saikyo Jump and Shonen Jump+, though there’s still no English localization confirmation.
