Foundation season 3 premieres on Apple TV+ on July 11, 2025. Apple TV+ says the new season will run 10 episodes, roll out weekly after the premiere, and pick up 152 years after season 2.

This time, the story lands in a galaxy where the Foundation has become more powerful, the Galactic Empire is losing its grip, and the fight between them is starting to bite harder as old orders break down and new threats push in.

Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, and Laura Birn are all back. Pilou Asbæk joins Foundation season 3 as The Mule, a psychic warlord who steps in as the main villain and pushes the adaptation into much darker territory, according to Apple TV+.

Foundation creator David S. Goyer says the stakes are higher this season, with more pressure bearing down on the major players, Demerzel in particular, and the show seems less interested in pure world-building now than in collapse, survival, and control.

If you’ve kept up with Foundation, or with Apple TV+ sci-fi more broadly, this return seems like one to watch, especially with the early praise going to the show’s scale, its ambition, and the Cleon dynasty storyline, even if you’re still split on how far it strays from Isaac Asimov’s novels.
