Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 and RT will be updated with full support for Flash today. There has always been flash support on desktop versions, but tablets had limited access to a ‘compatibility view list’ of sites with Flash to protect battery life and performance.
In a blog post announcing the update, Microsoft say that now many more sites are ‘compatible with the Windows experience goals.’ This means the compatibility view list has been changed – instead of a white-list of acceptable sites, it is now a black list of sites that are still incompatible with ‘the Windows experience’, or that include plug-ins that are not Windows 8 compatible.
This update will make using the web on a Windows 8 touch device much more natural.
