Galaxy Z Flip 8 leak: it could be Samsung’s last Flip phone
Report says Samsung may retire the Z Flip branding

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to debut on July 22. A new leak says it could also be the phone that ends Samsung’s Z Flip branding.
Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of that. Still, the report lands at a moment when the company is also expected to show off the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and, if other reports are accurate, a wider foldable as well. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 itself is said to stay close to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in terms of design, with an Exynos 2600 chip in some markets and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US.
If you follow Samsung’s foldables, this is the kind of rumor to keep an eye on. Market estimates still say flip phones account for about 67% of the category, but demand may be starting to move toward larger devices. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 pre-orders reportedly came in ahead of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 pre-orders, and Samsung was also said to be planning more Galaxy Z Fold 8 units than Galaxy Z Flip 8 units.
That lines up with a few things at once. Component costs are going up. Clamshell designs are getting harder to improve in ways people will notice. A simpler lineup would make sense. And there’s also the possibility of Apple arriving with a book-style foldable.
Competition isn’t easing up, either. Market estimates have Samsung’s share dropping from 40% last year to 31% this year. Motorola’s Razr line is said to hold about 50% of the US foldable market, while Huawei keeps adding pressure internationally. For the official details, Samsung’s July 22 event is the one to watch.
