Gemini Canvas turns prompts into apps now: Google taps Paris Hilton

Google has put Paris Hilton at the center of its latest Gemini Canvas demo on the web, using her to sell a simple idea: building an app doesn’t have to feel like coding.
In the demo, Hilton creates a web app called Iconic Ideas without touching traditional code. She gives Gemini Canvas a few plain-English prompts, and the tool generates the layout, design, and basic features.
The app is very on-brand: pink, sparkly, and built to organize ideas, inspiration, and to-dos in the kind of fast, jumpy workflow Hilton connects to ADHD.
Google is trying to make no-code and low-code tools feel less technical, maybe even fun. You can already try the demo in Gemini Canvas on the web.
There’s a bigger marketing play here, too. Google has named Hilton its first “icon in residence” as part of a broader Android campaign.
Behind the celebrity angle, the pitch is pretty direct. You don’t need serious engineering skills to get a prototype up and running anymore.
Whether regular users or small teams can scale one, customize it deeply, or maintain it over time is still less clear.
For now, Google says it’s free.
