Now that Tom Cruise has finished with his Mission: Impossible films and has returned to making other types of movies (the first, Digger, this year) perhaps it is finally time to film Edge of Tomorrow 2. Blunt explained it this way: “Doug Liman and I constantly talk about it, and I know Tom wants to do it at some point. So it depends on our schedules, but it has also been ten years since we did it. There was an incredible script, but I think it would have only worked if we had shot it eight years ago. I’m not saying we’re that old, but the fact that ten years have passed is a factor“.
