Google is testing a new report called “AI Contribution” within its Google Search Console platform. This report, which is in a testing phase with a limited number of users, is similar to the AI performance report offered by Bing Webmaster Tools.
So far, there have been no screenshots or concrete details that clarify the metrics that this new report will show.
Changing panorama
John Mueller, a well-known spokesperson for Google, made a comment in February, referring to the changing nature of decisions in Google search. “Many things are not permanent decisions that are never discussed. Things change”, he indicated, suggesting that the company is open to user feedback regarding any modifications that are implemented.
While specific details about its operation have not been provided, it is speculated that Google’s AI contribution report will present metrics similar to those of Bing’s reports, including citations, cited pages, and possibly, grounded queries. However, it is unlikely to include click-related data, which could limit the analysis possibilities for users looking to understand the impact of their content on search.
The SEO community has begun to foster discussions in forums, where users are encouraged to share any information or screenshots they may have observed about this new report. The interest in learning more about the progress of this tool is palpable, but for now, there remains the question of how it will affect content optimization strategy in the future.
