Google lets you customize your iOS 16 lock screen with widgets

Google has a lovely surprise for iOS 16 owners who want something more than a bland lock screen. It’s launched several widgets you can use, giving you access to a few features without needing to open your home screen. It’s exciting to see how eager the tech company is to make your phone or tablet experience better.

The first iOS 16 widget Google presented in its latest blog update is the search button. Without needing to unlock the screen, you can quickly type what you’re looking for in the bar. There’s also the translation tool, or you can use your camera or voice as options. 

You can also use the Google Chrome widget when searching for topics on your lock screen. This iOS 16 widget has more functionality than the standard search bar. As an aside, it lets you play the Chrome dinosaur game that everyone knows so well. 

If you’re working on the road and you quickly need to access your files, you can add the Drive iOS 16 widget. As long as you’re logged into the right account, your folders and content will appear. There’s no mention of if this has a password set, as you wouldn’t want others to see your files from the lock screen.

To think, it was only a month ago that we reminded you to update your iOS 16 Apple device. Things are moving quickly for the new operating system, and Google didn’t want to miss out. Whether you want to check the latest news, navigate with Google Maps, or see your emails, you can now do so without unlocking your screen.
