Google Nano Banana 2 Lite launches June 30: 1K images in 4 seconds

Google has rolled out Nano Banana 2 Lite, and Google says it can generate 1K images in about four seconds for roughly $0.034 per 1,000 images starting June 30. The pitch here is pretty clear: this model is aimed less at one-off art experiments and more at the kind of image work businesses need every day. Think rapid prototyping, ad variations, e-commerce listings, internal presentations, and that near-real-time, sketchbook-style back-and-forth when you’re trying ideas quickly.

Google is also making its lineup more defined. Nano Banana 2 Lite is the one you use when speed, scale, and lower-fidelity output matter most. Nano Banana Pro still makes more sense for final polish. Even so, Google says Nano Banana 2 Lite outperforms Nano Banana Pro on some text-to-image benchmarks, helped by stronger world knowledge and better character consistency at 1K.

If you need a lot of visuals, fast, this looks like an easy one to pick up. There is a catch, though: some analysts argue that image generation this cheap could make spam and misleading visuals even easier to produce, while areas like education, research, and industrial design still haven’t been tested as deeply. According to Google, Nano Banana 2 Lite will be available starting June 30 in the Gemini app, Google Ads, Google Photos, and developer APIs. Google also says Adobe plans to support it in Adobe Firefly, and Manus AI is already using it for slide decks and web design.
