A mysterious problem is affecting smartphones of the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 7 range. As reported from Android Authority, there is a video on YouTube that blocks these smartphones and causes you can not use it easily after playing it. The only way to make it work properly again is to restart it.

The particular video it won’t allow to play is a clip from Ridley Scott’s Alien movie in 4K. The reasons why this happens are not very clear, but in a Reddit thread dozens of Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6A and Pixel 6 users agree that the same error happens to them.

Alien vs Google Pixel

Apparently, there are some users who do not suffer from this same error, such as Android expert Mishaal Rahman, who explains that his Google Pixel 6 Pro did not crash. However, the vast majority of those who have this range of cell phones have the same thing happen to them.

The video has been uploaded to the platform for two years now, and is basically a scene from the 1979 movie Alien in 4K HDR quality. It’s not clear if the alien in the movie has a thing for Google phones or if Ridley Scott is more of an iPhone guy, but in any case we don’t recommend opening the video if you have one of these phones.

Google has not commented on the problem, but experts believe it may be due to the way pixels are treated in the playback of this video. In any case, you’d better not try it, because in space no one can hear you scream.
