As if Google doesn’t know enough about you already, the latest Google Search update for Android allows users to designate contacts as family members. When you ask Google to call your wife, mother, brother, and other family members, Google will ask permission to tag specific contacts as those family members. For those who don’t want to disclose this information, the service is entirely opt-in.

Google Now Call Mom

For those who do want to opt-in, simply activate Google Now and say, “OK Google, call Mom.” Alternatively, you can just tap on the mic and say “Call Mom” and Google Search will show you a card explaining how opting-in can improve contact recognition. Tap yes and then choose a contact you want to designate as “Mom.” Repeat the process for other members of your family.

The update should be rolling out to your phone automatically via Google Play Services.
