Google is readying to bring a redesigned YouTube experience to the mobile and desktop web. The new YouTube for web interface will feature the card-based layout that we’ve grown familiar with the Android and iOS apps. The redesign will feature a left-column navigation column for your channels and settings. Videos will also show up in a card-based layout with comments, video description, and related videos showing up in their own “cards.”
The redesigned YouTube for web is almost identical to its Android and iOS apps and provides a much cleaner looking experience. It makes sense that Google wants to keep its user experience consistent across all devices so that users will be familiar with the interface no matter what device they use.
The redesign is less noticeable on the web, but does feature subtle changes like icons for different sections of YouTube. Currently, sections only feature text labels, although channels do feature their own icons. Overall, the redesign better separates the different interface elements from one another and offers a more consistent and intuitive look and feel.
Google has yet to confirm these changes and there is no timeline of when we can expect the changes to roll out to all users.
