The 2023 MotoGP World Championship has finally kicked off and fans are anxious to witness the great motorcycling competition. After a long wait, the championship will kick off this weekend in Portimao, Portugal.
In addition to the exciting return of the races, this MotoGP 2023 season brings a very important novelty: the introduction of a sprint race. This race will have half as many laps and points as the traditional ones, but will represent a new opportunity for riders to fight for a better position on the starting grid. Although the sprint will not replace the main race on Sunday, its inclusion completely changes the entire weekend program.
It is important to note that positions achieved during the sprint will not count towards Sunday’s race. Thus, riders will have to perform at the highest level during both races. As for the teams and bikes, Ducati has been one of the most muscular during the preseason testing. With 8 bikes on the grid, the Italian brand has the most complete machine in terms of power, acceleration and handling, which is no mean feat. In the team, it is impossible not to highlight the champion Pecco Bagnaia and the Spaniards Álex Márquez and Jorge Martín.
