The recent release of Greedfall 2 has generated mixed opinions among players, especially on Steam, where it has received negative reviews for its combat system. Users have pointed out that the gameplay is slow and not very enjoyable, with comments complaining that the combat is clumsy, superficial, and not very fun. This has significantly impacted its popularity, reflecting a drastic drop in the number of players. Compared to the first Greedfall, which peaked at over 16,000 players at once, the sequel has barely managed to attract 375 players at its best moment. And of course, in light of this situation, the company could not just stand by.
Will these changes be enough to satisfy the players?
Aware of these difficulties, the developer Spiders has announced a significant overhaul of the combat system. In an effort to improve the gaming experience, the latest update promises to make it more dynamic with faster reactions, smoother movements, and enhanced animations. Changes have been implemented so that attacks are executed more quickly and can be chained more effectively, in addition to optimizing movement management while using skills or changing directions. However, some critics of the game are skeptical and believe that these changes will not be enough to reverse the situation of the title.
In addition to the reform in combat, the update introduces a new region called Olima, a new companion, and a hub in the form of a ship, where players can manage their team and access their belongings. However, it is important to highlight that previously saved game data will not be compatible with this new version, which will require players to start a new game after installing the patch.
Despite these modifications and expansions, the challenges facing Greedfall 2 are significant, and it remains to be seen whether these changes will regain the lost interest of players. The community continues to watch closely to see if Spiders can reverse the negative trend accompanying the release of this sequel.
