Grokipedia appears frozen: more than 13,000 edits are pending

Researchers Renée DiResta and Ronald Robertson say Grokipedia, Elon Musk’s Wikipedia-style site, appears to have stopped updating around April 24, 2026. Since then, they say, Grokipedia has halted both its self-editing bots and its review of changes submitted by users.

So this is where things seem to stand: by DiResta and Robertson’s account, the platform’s automated editors went inactive sometime between March and mid-April 2026, more than 13,000 suggested edits now appear to be stuck in review, and the owner still hasn’t offered any public explanation. Musk hasn’t mentioned Grokipedia publicly since February 2026.

That’s a real issue if people are still using it like a live reference source. Grokipedia pulled an estimated 6.7 million visits in June 2026, and a March 2026 analysis found that it had already been cited about 356,000 times by automated answer services, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s answer mode. Once claims go outdated or unmoderated, they can spread far beyond a single site.

If you rely on AI answers or reference sites, keep that in mind. DiResta and Robertson describe this as a major failure of the self-running encyclopedia model, and Grokipedia had already been criticized for factual mistakes, a perceived right-wing bias, copying from Wikipedia, and weak sourcing, even though it was pitched at its October 2025 launch as a faster, scalable alternative.

You can still access Grokipedia on the web, but until its owner says otherwise, it makes sense to treat it as a possibly unmaintained snapshot.
