GTA 6 could get a major August update: insider expects more info this month

Grand Theft Auto 6 could get a new official update in August 2026. Insider NateTheHate said this month that he expects a “fair bit” of new information about GTA 6.

He made that comment when he was asked about a possible gameplay reveal, and it quickly set off fresh talk about what could be coming next: gameplay footage, a substantial new trailer, or a deeper look at Grand Theft Auto 6’s world and systems before launch.

The rumor has picked up speed for a pretty simple reason. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so August would make sense as the timing for Rockstar Games’ next big marketing push and its first major official showing since the May 2025 trailer.

Still, this is all unofficial. Rockstar Games hasn’t announced a showcase, a trailer drop, or any kind of gameplay presentation.

There are a few reasons to pay attention anyway: Take-Two Interactive’s August 7 earnings report, reported backend updates on the official Grand Theft Auto 6 website, and earlier claims from NateTheHate that marketing is still on track with no further delay, which lines up with Take-Two Interactive’s repeated summer 2026 messaging.
