GTA 6 won’t launch worldwide at once: some regions get it 19 hours earlier
Rockstar’s local-midnight release likely starts in New Zealand

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar appears to be using a local-midnight rollout rather than one worldwide unlock, so players in different regions won’t all get in at the same moment.
That staggered release stretches across roughly 15 time zones. New Zealand is expected to be first through the door, while Mexico and parts of Central America will probably be waiting the longest. The gap could be close to 19 hours. Which means screenshots, clips, mission details, and story spoilers are likely to start washing across social media from November 18, even as some regions are still counting down.
If you’re trying to get in as early as possible, that timing matters. People are already talking about the usual “New Zealand trick,” and it’s generally easier to pull off on Xbox. On PlayStation 5, you’ll usually need a separate New Zealand account, and sometimes a local payment method too. Go carefully, because platform rules, account restrictions, and store-region requirements can change from one case to the next.
There’s also some confusion around regional availability. A number of PlayStation Store pages still don’t clearly list release times or even confirm availability in China, Bahrain, Kuwait, Russia, Vietnam, Serbia, the Philippines, Lebanon, and, reportedly, Oman and Qatar. That’s led to a lot of talk about bans, censorship, or delayed approvals, with very little official clarification so far.
For now, Grand Theft Auto 6 is arriving first through the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S storefronts. Pre-orders and console sales reportedly picked up after Netflix’s 27-minute Extended Look. PlayStation is said to be out in front, Tokyo is already running giant digital billboards, and PC still doesn’t have a confirmed release date.
