GTA 6’s confirmed weapons so far: a more realistic arsenal

So far, Rockstar Games has only put a few weapon types on the record for Grand Theft Auto VI through official footage and other official material: melee weapons, handguns, shotguns, SMGs, assault rifles, and sniper rifles. From that first batch of footage, GTA 6 looks like it’s dropping the old magic-pocket arsenal in favor of a smaller carry limit, while the full weapon list is still something Rockstar hasn’t revealed.
That at least gives you the basic shape of combat. Melee weapons cover stealth. Handguns fill the backup role. Shotguns are there for heavy close-range damage, SMGs for compact automatic fire, assault rifles for general use, and sniper rifles for long-range precision. Fans have also tied the Girardi ES9 to the Beretta 92FS, and they’ve spotted sidearms that look a lot like a Glock and a Colt Python, though in practice Rockstar Games’ weapon balancing will matter a lot more than strict realism.
The more interesting shift is elsewhere. GTA 6 seems to be moving away from that old magic-pocket setup and toward a tighter loadout, maybe two long guns plus a sidearm. If that’s how it works in the final game, then your weapon picks for missions, robberies, and free roam should carry a lot more weight.
And if you’ve been following GTA 6 closely, that’s where this early footage gets interesting. Based on Rockstar Games’ official footage and material, extra guns might stay in vehicle trunks, which means planning ahead for long-distance fights or tight indoor encounters. On top of that, weapons that are visibly holstered or slung match the game’s more grounded tone, and they could trigger stronger civilian panic and quicker police attention.
For now, though, the only confirmed information comes from Rockstar Games’ footage and official material. The complete weapon list is still under wraps, and things like a rocket launcher, a returning chainsaw, and a possible .357 revolver are still sitting in rumor territory.
