Bandai Namco has set October 24, 2026, and it brings 3-vs.-3 tabletop miniatures battles into the Gundam world. The pitch is pretty straightforward: small-scale mobile suits with a Gunpla look, paired with a wargame that’s quicker and easier to pick up than the heavier stuff. Bandai Namco also doesn’t seem to be treating Gundam Assemble like a throwaway branded board game. The early comparisons to Warhammer 40,000 say a lot, and so do the plans for more than 30 related products in the first year alone.
What’s interesting here is the bigger push behind it. Bandai Namco is trying to move Gundam further into the hobby space, beyond anime, model kits, and video games, especially in North America and Europe. For anyone who already likes Gunpla, the jump probably won’t feel all that strange: building, customizing, and painting miniatures are already part of the appeal. If you’re into Gundam or tabletop games, Gundam Assemble looks like one to keep an eye on. And the broader revival around it is hard to miss. There’s also a new Gundam Wing visual project that Bandai Namco has called “something long-term,” a remaster of 1979’s Mobile Suit Gundam planned for 2029 to mark the franchise’s 50th anniversary, an expected anime reveal at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, and the already announced game Gundam Rogue Orbit.
You’ll be able to pick up Gundam Assemble when it launches on October 24, 2026.
