Yesterday, May 21, was the Warhammer Skulls 2026 event. This is a video game-focused event where some of the new features centered around the Warhammer universe are presented, both 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. Among all the announcements, perhaps the most notable for those who are not necessarily die-hard fans of the Games Workshop universe was a small teaser of something to come: a collaboration between Helldivers 2 and Warhammer 40,000.
Announcing that one of the upcoming legendary War Boots will be themed around Warhammer 40,000, fans of Helldivers 2 will be able to obtain aesthetic effects related to this beloved franchise. Something they hope will attract fans of both IPs.
An event full of games for the fans
Within the context of the event, there were some other interesting happenings. Owlcat has released a beta of its new RPG, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, although exclusively for those who pre-ordered the game in its most expensive version. Owlcat also announced the release date of the expansion for its popular RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, already the third one and titled The Infinite Museion, which will be released on June 11. And the highlight was the announcement of the release of Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II during the event itself, a tactical RPG in the style of X-COM set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Although it wasn’t the most announcement-filled event, especially considering it was the tenth anniversary of the event, it’s important to note that the Summer Game Fest starts in two weeks. With dozens of conferences, it’s expected that there will be announcements of new Warhammer 40,000 games among them, with this Warhammer Skulls focusing on updates for already known games. Giving them a chance to stand out among their audience in an environment specifically designed by and for them.
