High on Life VR was announced today for PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest, and PC VR. It’s a full VR take on Squanch Games’ 2022 comedy FPS, with Flat2VR Studios building it for a 2027 release. This isn’t being treated like a straight port, either. The game is being rebuilt around headset play, which means reworked shop interactions, story scenes adjusted for VR, and physical reloading for the series’ talking guns. If you were hoping for more than a bare-minimum conversion, this already looks like it could be worth grabbing when it arrives.
A lot of the interest comes down to who’s making it. Flat2VR Studios came out of the modding scene, and that history gives the project some extra pull. High on Life VR doesn’t feel like a familiar IP with a VR label slapped on top. It feels more like a real test for one of the best-known flat-to-VR teams, and whether they can turn that reputation into a polished official adaptation.
The timing also says a lot. Based on reported sales figures and platform performance for the original release, High on Life made nearly $11 million from roughly 200,000 Steam copies in its first month. It was also the most-played Xbox Game Pass game during launch week, while PlayStation led unit sales with Steam close behind. High on Life 2 later sold an estimated 137,700 Steam copies by August 2026, bringing in around $5 million, according to sales estimates.
High on Life VR is set for 2027 on PC VR, PlayStation VR2, and Meta Quest. Early reaction has been upbeat, and it’s not hard to see why. High on Life already has a lot of what tends to work in VR: first-person gunplay, big exaggerated environments, and weapons that never shut up.
