In May 2024, Elon Musk announced via tweet that X has 600 million monthly active users and from them, 300 million used the platform every day. These numbers suggest a feat to the platform, which experienced a significant decrease in daily active users (5.6%) from 2022 to 2023 after its controversial changes of ownership and rules.

From them, 25.34% are aged 18-24 while 29.46% fall in the 25-34 age range. 30.89% are aged from 35 to 54, while only 14.32% are over 55. These numbers conclude that younger audiences have a more favorable opinion of X and are likely to use the platform.

Currently, the United States has the largest proportion of X/Twitter users with 30.26%. This means that 1 out of 3 X users are from the US . Following closely we have Japan with 13.78% and the United Kingdom with 4.6%. In fourth and fifth position we find Brazil and Canada, with 3.83% and 3.66% respectively. It is relevant to point out that just these five countries represent more than half of X’s total user base.

On a lower scale we find keeping in contact with family and friends (34%), following brands and companies (33%) and building a professional network (14%).
According to Data Reportal’s Digital 2024 Global Overview Report, 99.9% of X users also use another social media platform. With a whooping 88.1%, Instagram is the most popular social media platform that X users are also using. Following closely we find Facebook (81.2%), YouTube (80.8%) and WhatsApp (75.6%).
