The Facebook timeline is a lot like peanut butter– you either love it or you hate it. If you fall into the second camp then be warned: May 29th is ‘T-day’, the day when your Facebook profile page will change over to the new timeline view – forever!

If you can’t bear to wave goodbye to your old Facebook page then don’t panic: it is possible to remove the Facebook timeline. That’s to say, you can trick your browser into showing the classic Facebook view, without the cover image and date-ordered activity history. This will apply to your profile and those of all of your friends.

Using an extension called Timeline Remove, it’s possible to get rid of your Facebook timeline from Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari. Here’s how it’s done:

1. Download and install Timeline Remove for Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Sorry, Opera users, this post is no use to you.

2. Once you’ve downloaded the extension a blue button will appear in the top-right corner of your browser. This is where you enable or disable the Facebook timeline.

3. If your timeline is enabled, just click on ‘Status: Timeline Remove” to turn it off automatically.

4. Here you can see the difference between the two views, which you can toggle using Timeline Remove
