If you have Letterboxd, Tom Holland has a message for you about 'The Odyssey'

I don’t know anyone who likes cinema and in the middle of 2026 doesn’t have Letterboxd, the app to rate movies, see what your friends have rated, get ideas, and, why not, read reviews and laugh out loud. It’s so well-known that even movie stars, who should theoretically hate it because it shamelessly dissects any of their projects, have had to end up surrendering to its microphone and their “four favorites” to stay in the conversation. Fame, how dangerous it always is.

What are your four favorite formats?

Now it’s Tom Holland, who really suits having a secret account on Letterboxd, who has introduced a new feature to its users on the occasion of the release of The Odyssey: “For the first time on Letterboxd, you will be able to search and share the way you experience the movie with a new digital punch card”.

In other words: now you can say the format in which you saw it to give yourself more airs. Oh, you only saw it in a regular cinema with Dolby? If you didn’t see it in IMAX, you haven’t really seen it. “All formats for all your viewings and re-viewings, with every right to show off. Coming soon, so keep your eyes on Letterboxd’s social media”. Nobody asked for this, but as long as it’s not advertising, it’s welcome.

The Odyssey will premiere on July 17 and promises to be the big movie of the summer, or at least that’s how it’s being marketed everywhere. If it ultimately makes less than 1 billion, it will be time to reconsider how Hollywood is selling its movies to an audience that may not be there. Spoiler: it’s not going to happen.
