Google is preparing an update that will especially benefit forgetful users. Through the Contacts app, where you could previously add reminders for your friends’ or loved ones’ birthdays, you’ll now be able to add unique reminders too, such as medical appointments, events, trips, or any specific occasion you want to mark within a Google contact.

It’s a quite common issue, for instance, when after a hectic day, you forget to wish someone well and realize it too late. Thanks to this feature, which was already available, along with the new enhancement allowing additional reminders related to specific contacts, you won’t miss any important dates connected to that person.

Reminders within your contact list

The birthday reminder function has been available for a few months in the Google Contacts app, but creating a personalized reminder is a novelty. Now, besides adding birthdays, you can include other specific dates that, unlike birthdays, only occur once. This way, even the most forgetful minds can organize themselves properly without missing an important event.

Similar to birthdays, these reminders can be set up within Contacts. By tapping on the “reminders” tab, there’s now an option to add “birthdays” or “custom.” This second option is the novel functionality that allows you to remember all kinds of important events beyond birthdays.

Google’s improvements in its services

The deletion of Google accounts can be prevented by using the account occasionally.

Google, like other companies such as Microsoft, has tens of thousands of employees under its wing, enabling them to constantly work on various improvements in each of their applications. In this case, it’s about a particularly useful enhancement that deviates from Google’s trend of enhancing the quality of its productivity-focused application services, such as Gmail, Meet, or Google Docs, among others.

Now it remains to be seen what Google’s next change will be and in which of its numerous services it will take place. They’re also striving to optimize their resources, evident in the massive removal of Google accounts that will commence starting from December. With this measure, the company will delete accounts that have been inactive for more than two years without any form of activity or interaction with their services, such as sending emails, downloading applications, or watching videos on YouTube.
