Netflix has launched its new series titled ‘The Abandoned’, which is presented as the successor to the successful ‘Yellowstone’. With a first season consisting of seven episodes, the series is set in the mid-19th century and tells the story of a woman who, unable to have children, adopts four orphans. However, her way of life is threatened by a local aristocrat who seeks to take over her land, unleashing a dramatic conflict.

A complicated series from the beginning

The series features an attractive cast led by Lena Headey, known for her memorable role as Cersei Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’, and Gillian Anderson, famous for her portrayal of Dana Scully in ‘The X-Files’. In ‘The Abandoned’, both actresses take on roles opposite to what they usually play; Headey as the suffering heroine and Anderson as the villain of the story.

Despite expectations, production has faced significant challenges. Kurt Sutter, creator of the series and known for his work on ‘Sons of Anarchy’, left the project before its completion, which led to a reduction in the number of episodes from ten to seven. This change also affected the duration of the episodes, with a notable reduction in the lengths of several of them after splitting the pilot into two longer parts.
