Instagrille 2.0 is released today – the first major update to the neat Instagram app for Windows.

Running via the Pokki platform, Instagrille is a fast and good looking app that lets you follow your Instagram feed from Windows. It was quite a limited program when it was released, but 2.0 adds a number of features that really improve it.

Read on for my hands-on with Instagrille 2.0.

New views and feeds

The new cleaner interface has two views: one just displays images, where usernames appear when you move the mouse cursor over, and the other gives you a full info panel next to every photo so you can see all the comments and tags easily.
Instagrille 2.0 can now be re-sized too, so you can open fill your screen with Instagram photos.

There are now three feeds – your personal feed, the Popular feed, plus a new Nearby feed. Popular and Nearby can be used even if you’re not signed in to Instagram. Click on a photo and it expands to its maximum size, and you can then view it online or download it to your computer.

Search and share

Perhaps my favorite tool is the new Search – you can look for users or find images and also save your searches. Signing in with Facebook and Twitter allows you to share any photo you like, and comment on them too.

Overall, Instagrille 2.0 is a good update with genuinely useful features, and it’s probably the best way to follow Instagram on your desktop PC. You can download Instagrille for Windows here, and a Mac version is coming soon.
