Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is one of the most important events for the Apple company and for the developer community around the world. WWDC is the moment in which Apple presents its new products and advances in software, and that is why every year a great expectation is generated around its celebration date and its official announcement.

This year, rumors about the WWDC 2023 date have started to circulate wildly on the internet. Based on previous years’ announcement patterns, the invitation should already be here. Most of the time, Apple has announced WWDC in mid to late March or, at the latest, in the first week of April. With this in mind, we could expect the company to announce the WWDC 2023 date today.

They should be here by now!

Last week, in fact, would have already been an excellent time to unveil the dates of the next developer conference. True, as far as dates are concerned, there is little mystery. WWDC 2023 will almost certainly take place from June 5 to 9, but we could always be in for a surprise.

Also, as has become tradition, Apple accompanies the invitation with an augmented reality scenario that may give us some clues as to what we’re going to see. That, along with the wording of the invitation, usually keeps us busy tossing out theory until the event officially arrives.

Looking back, the list below clearly shows us that WWDC announcements have always been concentrated during the middle of March. True, the 2020 health situation led to a correction of the announcement and subsequent WWDCs have been announced later, but there are also some that have been announced earlier.

  • 2016: April 18
  • 2017: February 16
  • 2018: March 13
  • 2019: March 14
  • 2020: March 13
  • 2021: March 30
  • 2022: April 5

WWDC is an event that has been very popular in recent years, with thousands of developers from around the world attending the conference in person or virtually. Due to the healthcare situation, the event has been held completely virtually for the past two years, and it is possible that WWDC 2023 will also have a large virtual one. This would mean that any of us will be able to attend the conference from anywhere in the world, increasing the company’s ability to reach a global audience.

At the same time, keeping the online aspect, it is expected that this time we will see an in-person congregation in San Jose, which is an experience in itself. An event that we are all eagerly awaiting, even more so now that we know about the change in iOS 17 strategy, and for which invitations should be arriving right now.
