As the launch event for the iPhone 15 approaches, excitement and expectations continue to build. After collecting all the latest rumors to get the complete picture of the iPhone 15 a moment ago, it’s now time to focus on accessories, chargers, cables, and everything that will accompany the new phone lineup. Let’s review what’s expected in terms of accessories, innovative materials, and possible surprises that Apple could unveil.

The transition to USB-C goes far beyond the iPhone 15

According to Mark Gurman’s communication to MacRumors, Apple intends to revamp a large number of its accessories to incorporate a USB-C port. This decision follows the transition of the iPhone 15, which will leave behind the Lightning connector. The transition to USB-C is expected to be relatively swift, similar to what happened with the Lightning connector in 2012.

One of the notable updates is the MagSafe Duo, which will now feature USB-C. Additionally, the MagSafe Battery Pack could also be updated to incorporate this port. It’s still unclear whether these revamped accessories will be introduced at the Wonderlust event, but what’s clear is that they will bring more surprises than one might expect.

Reportedly, Apple is developing a new MagSafe Battery Pack. This pack would allow us to connect multiple batteries together and charge several devices simultaneously. The new system would also enable us to charge two iPhones at the same time by simply placing them on opposite sides of the battery.

In fact, social media has been flooded with images of these alleged MagSafe Battery Packs with a USB-C port. These imitations, which used to feature a Lightning port, are now ready to try to convince buyers that they are the new versions we expect from Apple.

The farewell to leather accessories has even more implications

Rumors suggest that Apple might be planning to discontinue its silicone and fluoroelastomer accessories. Instead, the company could be leaning towards next-generation materials that are more environmentally friendly. Accessories like the silicone MagSafe iPhone case and the Sport Band for the Apple Watch, among others, are expected to be replaced.

One of the major innovations in this field could be the material currently referred to as “FineWoven,” which is expected to replace leather in the near future. It’s still unclear whether this same material will also replace silicone, as Apple may have another alternative in mind that offers similar performance while reducing the carbon footprint of accessories.

Amidst all these developments, one of the most unexpected rumors is the possible termination of the partnership between Apple and luxury designer Hermès. In the past, the collaboration between these two brands resulted in stylish leather bands for the Apple Watch. However, Hermès has recently removed all mentions of the Apple Watch and its compatible bands from its website. While this could suggest the end of their collaboration, it’s also possible that they are preparing to launch a new range of non-leather bands in line with Apple’s ecological philosophy.

Rumors have set high expectations, but if there’s one thing Apple knows how to do, it’s to surprise. So, while we may think we know everything about the new accessories, we’re likely to be in for more than one surprise.
