While we have heard several back-and-forths regarding the pricing of the new iPhone 15, the possibility of a price increase is gaining momentum rapidly. A recent report from Bloomberg has indicated that Apple is contemplating raising the price for its iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Meanwhile, the entry-level models in the lineup, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, will retain their current price.

One of the most difficult figures to filter out and with possible changes on the horizon

Despite the potential price increase, Apple doesn’t anticipate a decline in demand. According to Mark Gurman, the company expects to sell approximately the same number of iPhone 15 units as iPhone 14, with a target of around 85 million units for this year. Such is the confidence in demand and the higher price that we might witness an increase in total iPhone revenues.

The reason behind the price increase seems to be the innovations and design changes. Rumors suggest that all iPhone 15 models will feature a USB-C port, leaving behind the traditional Lightning connector, and will also adopt a titanium chassis, replacing steel.

On the inside, they will be equipped with the latest A17 chip, based on a 3-nanometer production process, promising superior performance and increased energy efficiency. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will include a periscope-type lens in the rear camera module, offering an improved optical zoom range. When we add the new multifunction button, the larger battery with new manufacturing technology, and other changes to the equation, we find a list of reasons for the potential price hike.

The price increase, as we mentioned, would not affect the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, whose major change will be the inclusion of the Dynamic Island, a feature we saw debut with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max almost a year ago. Undoubtedly, Apple is preparing truly attractive features for its upcoming iPhone lineup. Hence, a reconsideration of the price is expected, and it’s worth noting that the price is one of the most challenging pieces of information to leak, as Apple could make changes to the figures until just hours before the official presentation.
