The differentiation between iPhones with Pro last names and entry-level iPhones has fluctuated over time and across different models. At times, iPhones and iPhone Pro have differed almost solely by the number of cameras, for example.

Now, with the arrival of the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro, now available in yellow, the differences become more evident. We can talk about the chips, the Dynamic Island or several other new features that only reach the highest range. In this regard, we expect the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro to continue this trend. Moreover, the iPhone 15 Pro overtakes the entry-level model with these five rumors.

Buttons, connectors and cameras as main arguments

Rumors, yes, but with several sources backing them up that bring more and more reliability to the facts. Nothing is confirmed until we see the iPhones on a stage in Apple Park, and yet we already have several arguments in favor of the Pro model.

One of the most important rumored changes is the elimination of the physical volume buttons, side button and mute switch in favor of solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro. These buttons would provide haptic feedback that would simulate the sensation of pressing a physical button, but without the moving parts that can accumulate dirt, get stuck, break and ultimately do nothing to contribute to the phone’s watertightness.

The elimination of physical buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro is an interesting change and could be a continuation of the direction Apple already took with the trackpad on Macs, for example. Solid-state technology is more durable and takes up less space inside the phone, leaving room for other components and simplifying both manufacturing and the iPhone design itself.

Another major change is the replacement of the Lightning port with the USB-C port. This change has been rumored for years and while it is one that will also come to the entry-level iPhone 15s, it seems that on the iPhone 15 Pro it could have a higher performance. More speed for transferring photos or videos recorded with this model’s impressive cameras is always good news.

A USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Pro also brings greater compatibility with accessories. Until now, to connect external storage to the iPhone, we had to use an adapter. Now, with faster connection speeds and a universal port, accessing external storage through the Files app will be easier than ever.

Sticking with the camera theme, rumor has it that the iPhone 15 Pro could include a periscope design for its camera, which would allow for a much longer telephoto lens that could have a 10x zoom function or more. A technology that would allow Apple to stack lenses lengthwise on the phone, where space is available without having to keep increasing the thickness of the phone.

This point, moreover, may bring even more attention to the Pro Max variant of the iPhone 15, as some rumors suggest that it will be only this phone that will enjoy the novelty. Something that will add even more distinction between models and a move that we have already seen in the past with the number of cameras, for example.

Beyond this, there is the question of chips. If we look at the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, only in the latter do we find the company’s most powerful chips. The play could be repeated with the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro, and in this case the difference would be even greater. The A17 chip of the iPhone 15 Pro has been leaked in a benchmark and points to a 25% improvement in performance, something to take into account. Something that also has an impact on the battery, because if the iPhone 14 Pro Max already beats the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the extrapolation to the iPhone 15 Pro may be even greater.

Finally, we can talk about several small details that, cumulatively, make a difference. We talk about the amount of RAM, more in the Pro models. We talk about the support for Wi-Fi 6E, which greatly improves wireless connectivity. We talk about the possibility of a titanium frame, lighter and stronger. And several other details that are reserved for the best iPhone. Faced with the question of whether to choose the iPhone 15 or the iPhone 15 Pro, the latter convinces us in just five rumors.
