We are three days away from the presentation of the iPhone 15, and, it must be said, the onslaught of rumors has us a bit dizzy. Some coincide, many differ, and it’s hard to be clear about what we will see at the Wonderlust event next Tuesday. For example, we have long taken for granted an increase in price, but new information published by TrendForce now contradicts these data. Let’s talk about storage options, the amount of RAM, and the price.

An increase in RAM, but the same storage options

One of the most notable pieces of news is the proposed increase in RAM in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. According to TrendForce, these models will come equipped with 8GB of RAM, in contrast to the 6GB found in the iPhone 14 Pro.

While a 2GB increase may seem minor to some, the reality is that this increment can make a significant difference in the overall performance of the device, especially when it comes to multitasking. iOS’s optimization of RAM usage is simply impressive, allowing the company to use smaller modules. However, when running multiple apps simultaneously, editing video content, or playing high-definition games, this extra RAM will be of great benefit.

Contrary to rumors that suggested the iPhone 15 Pro models would start offering 256GB of base storage, it appears that the situation is different. According to TrendForce, we will continue with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

Price: Minor changes with a possible surprise

TrendForce also shared details about the possible prices of these upcoming devices. For months, we’ve heard rumors of a price increase across the iPhone range this year. Then, it was later refined to be a price increase for the Pro models, while keeping the entry-level models unchanged.

Now, the published information talks about an even more selective increase, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to start at a price of $1,199, which represents a $100 increase compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Thus, the rest of the range would remain, according to rumors, at the same price as the previous generation in the United States.

Additional Features: Innovations that make a difference

The rumors don’t end with RAM, storage, and price. TrendForce has confirmed, understood in the context of a leak, other interesting features expected to arrive in the iPhone 15 series. Beyond the inclusion of a USB-C port, marking the end of Apple’s traditional Lightning port, there’s talk of the arrival of Dynamic Island to all models this year.

The analysis also mentions the arrival of a titanium frame, a customizable action button, the A17 Bionic chip, and support for Wi-Fi 6E. These are things we already knew, indeed, but it’s useful to have multiple sources confirming this information when we’re dealing with details that are still up in the air until next Tuesday.

With the release date scheduled for Tuesday, September 12th at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, the world is eagerly awaiting to see what Apple has in store with the iPhone 15 series. If these rumors and TrendForce’s analysis are accurate, we can expect several surprises, and it serves as a reminder to take rumors with caution, especially those related to device prices. The truth is, we may think we know everything about the new models, but based on past experience, it’s highly likely that Apple will catch us off guard with more than one surprise. We’ll see.
