The wave of rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 15 shows no signs of stopping, and a new report from MacRumors adds more fuel to the fire on the very day of Apple’s phone presentation event. What else did we find out? Nothing entirely new, but there is confirmation of some of the specifications of the new iPhones.
Storage options without confirmation
We’ve been seeing a bit of back and forth in the specification rumors. Now, MacRumors has confirmed that Apple has been testing various storage configurations for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB. This aligns with the storage options that were available for the iPhone 14 Pro.
There were rumors that a 2TB version would exist, but so far, no other source has supported this claim. Another leak had also suggested that the initial storage for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would be 256GB. However, according to MacRumors, this information also appears to be incorrect.
So, while other possibilities were considered a few weeks ago, now it seems safe to assume that the storage for the Pro models of the iPhone 15 will be 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. The same as the iPhone 14 Pro models.
More RAM, but with a twist
As for NAND storage suppliers, Apple appears to have diversified and chosen to work with several renowned manufacturers such as SK Hynix, Western Digital, Kioxia, and Samsung.
MacRumors states that Apple plans to use LPDDR5 DRAM for the iPhone 15 Pro, the same type of RAM found in last year’s iPhones. According to the outlet, two RAM configurations have been considered: 6GB and 8GB.
It’s not clear which of these two RAM configurations has been chosen, and there is also the possibility that RAM may vary depending on the phone’s storage capacity. In other words, models with higher storage capacity could come with 8GB of RAM instead of 6GB.
In this regard, it’s worth noting that a recent report from TrendForce suggests that Apple will offer 8GB in the iPhone 15 Pro, so the 6GB configuration may have been discarded.
With so many rumors circulating, it’s delicate to state what Apple has in store for the iPhone 15 Pro launch. As always, it’s essential to take these reports with caution. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer for confirmation, as this very evening at 7 PM, we’ll be able to watch the Apple Event and get the detailed information about the new iPhone 15.
