iPhone 18 Pro launch looks on track: Foxconn bonuses hit $1,450

Foxconn appears to have refreshed hiring at its Zhengzhou iPhone plant as Apple gears up for the iPhone 18 Pro ramp ahead of its usual September reveal. The latest push brings return bonuses of 7,500 to 10,000 yuan, roughly $1,085 to $1,450, with one widely circulated figure landing near $1,230.

If you track Apple’s launch rhythm, this looks like the familiar pre-release rush. Foxconn is trying to get workers in place, keep bottlenecks from forming, and push output to its late-August peak before Apple’s traditional September reveal.

There’s still a real risk hanging over all of this: tighter high-bandwidth DRAM supply and rising component costs. One report says the iPhone 18 Pro bill of materials could climb by as much as 38% year over year, and Apple CEO Tim Cook has already said memory prices are going up and should show up in the September quarter.

For people who watch Apple’s premium phones closely, the bonuses look like something to take seriously. Some analysts see them as a sign that Apple’s Pro mass production is broadly on schedule. Apple could still put the higher-margin iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and possibly a foldable model first, before shifting the same attention to standard iPhone 18 models.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also said to be entering full-scale production in India through Foxconn and Tata Electronics. Zhengzhou still sits at the center of the operation, though, and neither Apple nor Foxconn has confirmed the bonuses or any staggered 2026-2027 launch plan.
