Tomorrow, Sunday, March 19, 2023, the regular phase of the Kings League comes to an end. The 11th matchday brings to an end two months full of competition, where except for one team (Gerard Romero’s Jijantes FC), the rest has been very evenly matched.
This parity in the duels has captivated the spectator, which together with the show of each day, with figures such as Ronaldinho or the vaunted Joker, has turned the Kings League into a real success.

Superlative numbers
The Kings League cannot be compared to professional Premier League soccer or European competitions. Yes, it is indeed the same sport, but the way in which it is consumed is different, hence the need to qualify some aspects before giving numbers.
The Kings League can be viewed completely free of charge via the various existing platforms, from Twitch to YouTube or TikTok. The president of each club can broadcast his team’s match without any problem, which, together with the official broadcast, creates a perfect symbiosis. But, we repeat, it’s free. In contrast, this is not the case with Liga de Fútbol Profesional soccer, where you have to pay a fee every month -and not exactly a small one- to enjoy the competition.
Having made this clear point that we consider necessary (the nuance “free” and “pay” is relevant), there is no doubt that the numbers of the Kings League in terms of viewers are impressive. All broadcasts have exceeded five million viewers in total accumulated on the channel, a figure that speaks for itself. Moreover, this is only for the main broadcast, to which should be added the viewership achieved by the rest of the streamers on their channels.
Ronaldinho’s match, for example, registered more than two million peak viewers across all platforms. It was a league record.
To this we must add that the league has been very clever in creating a fun ecosystem around the presidents and clubs. The pre-match preview, which is held on Friday nights, accumulates incredible numbers, with more than one million viewers. In addition, the post-match day is identical, with numbers also exceeding one million. This gives rise to a very original narrative identical to that of professional soccer with the talk shows.

A packed Camp Nou
One of the masterstrokes of Gerard Piqué and his entire team has been to bring the second phase of the tournament to a dream location: the Spotify Camp Nou. Since it was announced on matchday four, moving the final phase between the best eight teams there will serve to show muscle. And we explain.
Of the more than 60,000 tickets available for sale, more than 50,000 have already been sold. Considering that there is still a week to go before the day of the event (it will take place next Sunday, March 26), there is no doubt that hanging the “no tickets” sign is not only feasible, but it is what is going to happen 100%.

Sponsors on the rise
As we wrote at the time, the growing interest in the Kings League is not only reflected in spectators, but also in sponsors. The league started out with many sponsors to support the economic muscle, but as the days have gone by, others have joined in.
For the summer season everything points to the figure growing again, especially if we take into account that the Queens League, i.e. the women’s league, is also coming. However, it is necessary to increase the players’ salaries.
The numbers of the Kings League are impressive. They can be analyzed from one point of view or another, but no one can doubt their relevance. To denigrate them by other sectors only shows the fear that exists for the competition.
