Marathon is a complete success and manages to rise to the top 5 of the best-selling games on Steam

The latest server test for Marathon, Bungie’s new extraction shooter, has made a significant impact on the market, elevating the game to third place on the Steam bestsellers list. Since its test launch, Marathon has secured its position in sales rankings, currently only surpassed by Resident Evil Requiem, a strong competitor that has been recognized as one of the best survival horror titles in years. This suggests that the marketing strategy and expectations surrounding the game are paying off.

Marathon has swept against all odds

Marathon has not only climbed the sales charts but has also risen at least ten positions in the global Steam wishlists, currently ranking at number 32. This growth is significant, especially considering it is in the pre-order phase. To put this in perspective, other games set to release in March, such as Slay the Spire 2 and Crimson Desert, occupy the 4th and 6th positions on this same wishlist, indicating fierce competition for players’ attention.

Despite the server test revealing some issues, the overall feedback seems to be positive. Many players expressed interest in its mechanics and the appeal of its narrative, which is crucial for a live service game. In fact, some fans have hinted that a puzzle in the game could be related to memorable moments from Destiny 2, which could further increase community interest.

With all these elements aligned, Marathon seems to have a good outlook on its way to its official launch on March 5 and can firmly establish itself in the video game industry, facing major titles this month and potentially winning a place in the hearts of players.
