Marvel amazes with the first trailer for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
X-Men, Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom steal the spotlight

I remember the end of the saga Jonathan Hickman did in Avengers before Secret Wars as one of the most mind-blowing things I’ve ever read in a superhero comic. Marvel’s characters accepted their fate after killing hundreds of universes in incursions that kept becoming more common, and there was no way to stop them. If the Russo brothers are capable of reaching even a tenth of that scale, we’re looking at the number 1 blockbuster of the year.
Make Mine Marvel!
the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has everything Marvel fans could want, even those who tuned out a long time ago: Fox’s X-Men, the FF, Black Panther and the Wakandans, the New Avengers, Thor, Captain America and, of course, a Doctor Doom able to stop with his bare hands an attack from the God of Thunder himself. And best of all: if you only watch this trailer without knowing anything else, you won’t have any idea what the movie is about.
This is Marvel’s chance to break back into the big leagues and erase the advantage DC seemed to have gained with the release of Superman last year. We’ll have to see whether it can make the most of it and, above all, whether it can get people excited about this universe again after Avengers: Secret Wars, which is supposedly where the mutant saga will begin.
We don’t know how long we’ll see Robert Downey Jr unmasked as Doctor Doom, or whether Captain America will have more than a cameo, or even whether characters as iconic as Spider-Man or Deadpool will show up, but one thing is clear: no one is going to want to miss this. And for good reason.
