Apple has updated OS X Mavericks to version 10.9.1, bringing improved Gmail support in Mail as well as fixes for VoiceOver. Mail is the focus of this update, improving search as well as the reliability of “Smart Mailboxes,” which is Apple’s fancy name for its unified inbox. Apple has also fixed a bug where contact groups were not working properly.

VoiceOver receives a minor update, allowing Apple’s text-to-speech engine to read sentences with emojii characters. Before this fix, VoiceOver would trigger prompts to unlock a user’s “Local items” keychain.

Lastly, Safari gets a small improvement with Shared Links, which are now periodically updated.
